Who We Are
Robinsound was founded in 2001 as a music services company, providing music lessons, instrument repairs, and live musical performances in State College, PA. In 2015, a music recording studio was established under the name Robinsound LLC, with the aim of offering 16 or more tracks of high-fidelity sound. We offer mixing and mastering services for individuals, small bands or medium-sized groups of any genre. We also offer a mobile recording setup for on-site events, and video production and editing services.
Our Team
James Robinson — Owner & President
James Robinson is a professional educator, musician and entrepreneur who has been based in State College for the past 25 years. He holds degrees in music from Ithaca College and The Pennsylvania State University. He is an active member of the State College music community through bands such as the Rick Hirsch trio, the Arthur Goldstein quartet, and the Mac Himes trio.
Zach McGowan — Recording Engineer
Zach is an alumnus summa cum laude of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA with a degree in Music Technology. A lifelong member of the State College community, he currently splits his time between there and Pittsburgh as an associated record producer, audio engineer, session musician and band leader.
Mark Petaja — Operations Manager
Mark earned an honors degree in Producing/Engineering from the Harris Institute for the Arts, located in Toronto, Canada. When he’s not working on recording and mixing albums for Robinsound, he is employed as a live sounds tech and stagehand around State College and Pennsylvania.
Chris Ryves — Video Editor
Chris is an avid freelance writer who lends her skills in video editing and composing lyrics to Robinsound. She currently resides in State College and works on screenplays and independent film projects in her spare time.
